What Grade would I be in for ISTD Ballet and Tap , as I'm 16 years old ?

in nearly sure it would go by your ability you would still have to start with the basics so i cant see you going straight into the hard stuff as you would have to work at strengtheningng your ankles, my daughter started when she was 4 now 11 and is in grade 1 this year coming so hope that helps.

Some schools put you with your ability, but in my ISTD Ballet class I was in grade 4 when I was 13 and the youngest in the grade 5 class was 16 but the oldest was 21 so it depends really, and we didn't have higher classes.

As you are 16 they will most probaly put u in about grade 1 and move you up very quickly so u can learn basic dances and moves, then wen they have done that they will put u in about grade 4 or 5 and start propley from there.

If you have never done any tap before you need to phone around for a teenagers beginners class. Sorry but the basics are really important. You could probably cope with grade 1 or 2 at a push really quite quickly though so if you want to give it a go phone around. Tap is fun and excellent exercise. This goes for ballet as well. Good luck. And don't worry about people telling you you should have started younger, You are never too old to learn to dance and get great enjoyment out of it.
