I'm debating between 2 at the moment, the choices are the Canon VIXIA HG10 or the Sony Handycam HDR-SR11. Any opinions on which one I should get?

  1. Go for the HG10, hands-down.

Not going to say anything about a mic, because no good mics for "making a movie" are going to be in your price range.

  2. SONY IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR EVERYTHING RIGHT

  3. Get the HG10. Besides Canon's amazing optics and the great picture quality from the CMOS sensor, it also shoots in 24p, which can add a nice look to your videos, or your movies, especially the latter. However, I might recommend taking a look at the HF100, which is essentially the same as the HG10 but shoots onto removable SD cards, records in full 1920x1080 HD as opposed to 1440x1080, and shoots 24p and 30p. Hope this helps!
