What HDMI cable for a Sony BDP S-300 Blu Ray player?

I just bought a Sony BDP S-300 Blu Ray dvd player for my fiance's birthday. Since I can't ask him (lol), I wanted to know which cable I should be buying to connect the player to the tv (We have a Sony Bravia). We have a monster cable that we never used when we bought our Sony surround sound syst (which will now be obsolete since I just bought this!), but I don't think it could be used for this. What do you think? Do I need a pass thru w/the box that can switch between other HD devices AND a cable or just the cable? Thanks for your help guys!!

  1. Use the HDMI and check to see if your surround system has a digital input. If it does jus connect that and your all set.

  2. If you have the time, you can get high quality HDMI cables online for a lot less $

Check out monoprice.com. The link below is a 6 ft. cable but they have other lengths if you need a longer one.

  3. Standard HDMI cable about 50.00-80.00!! He will love it Blu Ray looks awesome!!

  4. You can pretty much use any HDMI (version 1.3 or 1.3a) cable if you want the best signal possible, but don't be fooled into spending a ton of money for a brand name cable like "Monstercable" etc.  The fact is, HDMI is a purely digital signal and thus they cables are much less likely to suffer any data integrity issues, so unless  there is a serious problem with the cable, pretty much all HDMI cables are the same.

Because of this, you can literally spend less than $10 and your picture will be flawless.  I highly recommend any cable from Monoprice.com because not only are they high quality, but they are inexpensive as well.

  5. Get a 1.3 rated HDMI cable...they are like $5!

  6. Get an HDMI cable. It's the best picture you can get.
