  1. First they trampled over Barbie, then Bratz trampled over My Scene, and now Hannah Montana dolls are what girls wanna play with. I saw this chart, Myscene was at the bottom, then Bratz, Then Hannah Montana had a whole part all to itself. Like 79% of the chart. I miss those dolls though. Nothing can replace Bratz and Barbie nor My Scene!

  2. The My Scene dolls are being made exclusively for Europe these days. The new lines can sometimes be found at Amazon. com & occasionally at discount department stores.

Playline doll trends change very quickly in the US. My Scene did very well for several years, as did Bratz. When sales of My Scene dolls began to slip in the US, Mattel phased them out in favor of the Fashion Fever dolls. There have been several different Fashion Fever lines over the past few years.

Sales of playline dolls are slipping for every brand. MGA (the company that makes Bratz) is having to rethink their doll lines in a major way. Unfortunately, MGA spend everything on the Bratz line & the popularity of Bratz has decreased, especially since the disasterous live action movie. The age of kids who play with Bratz is about 9 years old & their parents did not approve of the movie at all. In addition, there was a lot of negative publicity when the Bratz Babies were released. Baby dolls in hootchie mama clothes, thong diapers & a lot of jewelry were very offensive to a lot of parents. The only other line that MGA has is a line of Fairytale dolls whose costumes are cheap imitations of the Walt Disney dolls like Belle, Cinderella & Jasmine.

I work for Target & the Bratz aisle continues to get smaller, while the Hannah Montana, High School Musical & Barbie aisles get larger.

Mattel is now making at least one of the Hannah Montana line of dolls & they are selling like crazy. Despite the current success of Hannah Montana & High School Musical, however, these dolls are a fad & will be gone as soon as the kids who love HM & HSM grow up & discover real music.

Bratz have been around for about 10 years, Barbie has been around for nearly 50. When Bratz are ancient history, Barbie will still be around.

I recently read that the lawsuit between Mattel & Carter Bryant was settled, with no one claiming a decisive victory, although the court did rule that some aspects of Carter Bryant's contract with Mattel were violated when he went to work for MGA. The issue was that Carter Bryant, who designed the Bratz line for MGA,  was a Mattel designer who may have been involved with the development of the My Scene line of dolls. It is very probable that he took the  My Scene concept to MGA, but proving who had the original ideas in a court of law is very, very difficult.. The details of the settlement between Mattel & Bryant weren't released to the general public.

The lawsuit between Mattel & MGA is ongoing (as of May 28, 2008) & Mattel stands a chance of winning, especially as the president of MGA is apparently unwilling to disclose exactly how much income the Bratz line of dolls generated. MGA is a private company so they don't have to release their sales numbers . However, if they want to win this lawsuit, they are going to have to come clean  on exactly how much they have made (or lost, after the fiasco that was "The Bratz Movie.")

I actually met Carter Bryant in 2000. He is very talented & designed some beautiful & elegant dolls while he was with Mattel.

  3. My Scene ripped off the Bratz the Bratz sued and won. So now no more My scene. Now Barbie is suing Bratz because they say they ripped them off. I don't think so. Forget my scene go to bratz it's a better doll.

  4. I have no idea, there's tons of them in my country...

Frankly, I don't care much for any of them. I just felt compelled to add that Bratz dolls are ugly. My Scene dolls at least don't look so much like they have some kind of glandular disorder. However, they don't really seem appropriate for little girls. What teen wears that much make-up?! And who has those hips and those legs?! Sorry - I have a score to settle with the doll-world... :P

  5. They were ugly, lame, and Bratz dollz took over.
