It was a huge media story and then its just dissapeared and I havent heard anything since about whether they have been sentenced or anything. What will happen to all the children will they be put into care seen as the police cant really say who was in on it and who wasnt within the family?

KIDNAP victim Shannon Matthews has been secretly reunited with her father, the News of the World can reveal.

The nine-year-old schoolgirl screamed with delight when she saw Leon Rose and shouted: “Oh Dad, I’ve missed you so much.”

Dressed in her new school uniform, beaming Shannon bounded across the room and clung round his neck during the hour-long meeting. It is the first time they’ve seen each other since her 24-day disappearance five months ago.

Leon, 29, fought back tears of relief as they made up for lost time, enjoying playing Lego and board games together.

He later confided to a pal: “It was so emotional, but I didn’t cry. I’m just so happy to have hugged her and know she’s doing fine.”

One of Shannon’s brothers was also at the top-secret meeting at a ‘safe house’ on Thursday, which was arranged by social workers caring for the youngster. Shannon has been staying with foster parents since her disappearance in Dewsbury, West Yorks, in February.

Leon added: “I know she is being well looked after from what social services have told me, but I just needed to see it with my own eyes.”

He blurted out news of his reunion to a pal back home in Huddersfield, West Yorks. The friend said: “He was over the moon. He’s been sick with worry but was beaming at the way Shannon met him. She gave him a kiss and grabbed hold of him tightly.

“They both said how much they’d missed each other, and they larked about and had fun as any father and daughter would.

“It was incredibly tough for him to say goodbye but Leon is sure that social services are doing their best for his little girl.”

Shannon was discovered under a bed in the flat where her stepdad’s uncle Michael Donovan, 39, lived. He is facing trial on kidnap and false imprisonment charges.

Her mum Karen, 32, is accused of child neglect and perverting justice in connection with Shannon’s disappearance. And stepdad Craig Meehan, 22, has been charged with having child p**n on his computer.

Leon refused to comment when asked about this week’s visit

They are both in jail awaiting trial.Her mum is getting h**l in some women's remand place,constant taunting by the other inmates.I don't know where the dad is being held,though.

They're both in custody and will be standing trial together.  Not sure how the child p**n charges fit into all this - maybe she wasn't so unaware if its existence, it would be difficult not to notice hundreds of images of child pornography on a computer in your house, especially when you're at home not working all day.

I don't know about the children - I presume they're in care.

Parent Karen and stepfather toyboy I hope are safely locked up where they belong. I find it very hard to believe if you are at home all day together, had a computer in the living room in a prominant place, that you did not know that your boyfriend was looking at child p**n!!!

Both guilty and deserve all they get.

Hope the real father (estranged from scruffy Karen) gets custody of all the kids and they live in happiness after all the trauma.

i beleive shannon is still in care her step father is in prison and i thin her mum still is too best place for all of them

There is a still a thing called responsible journalism and the British law which has put restrictions on the reporting of this case to guarantee some anonymity and privacy to Shannon so that she can be helped to rebuild her life in peace out of the media spotlight.  Is this too much to ask, why would any of us want to know all the details for prurient reasons when we cannot do anything ourselves directly to help?

the kids are all in care.  not sure what happened to the dad but shannons mother i think is in prison.
