What Happens to the British athletes, just 2 gold medals and 7 in all after about a week of competion. I can't understand why we aren't much competitive in all sports. The German have done an impressive ascension in these days and have already 7 gold medals. What a great difference, I can't understand why they do better than Britain that will host the 2012 tournament. Have your say

  1. Wait till the cycling

  2. We're usually best at things like rowing and sailing. I don't think we're that bad. We're only a small island. If you look at Europe over all, Europe is probably the best, but then Australia is great as they have such a small population for a big country as they have a more outdoors lifestyle because of the better weather.

You don't know what you're talking about Gigia. Britain doesn't just have two medals. She said two gold medals.

    The table is on here

  3. Only two??? Strange Italy already gained 13 medals and is the 5th nation with more medals after big countries! Strange Uk only 2 we got 11 medals more than you already

  4. Recent British performance in the first week of each Games (vs end tally)

    Sydney 2000: 0 golds, 1 silver, 2 bronze vs 11 golds, 10 silvers, 7 bronze

    Athens 2004: 1 gold, 2 silvers, 4 bronze vs 9 golds, 9 silvers, 12 bronze

    Beijing 2008: 2 golds, 2 silvers, 3 bronze

Which suggests a end tally of about 11 golds, 8 silvers and 9 bronze

  5. Wait till the hooliganism becomes an official game of the olympics.  Nobody can beat us in that!

  6. Yeah it's not exactly over yet!

And 2 and 7 are nothing when you see what China and the USA have now and particularly what they will end up with!!

You cant say Britain aren't much when they have managed to field cometitors in a huge majority of events - all of which require the competitors to have reached a particular standard for example - you cant just send Eddie the Eagle and Eric the Eel any more you know! The athletes have to earn the right to be there. Thats why not every country fields competitors in every event. If all 205 countries sent competitors in every competition the heats for every event would be endless and the Olympics would go on for months!!

So Britain do better than a LOT of others.

  7. Wait not all is lost!

    10 finals in the rowing

A couple of athletes to the final in the atheletics

    The cycling!

    Swimming womens!

    Sailing - silver possible!

  8. wait till the rowing, sailing and indoor track cycling is over then we will have racked up a few more medals

but most years we only end up with 10 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze, or something along those lines
