  2. in my opinion, oahu

  3. Having been to the islands a number of times and then living there for a year, I would suggest you to Kauai and then plan a day trip to another island, possible Oahu to see The Arizona Memorial, etc. Get a copy of "The Ultimate Kauai Guidebook" by Wizard Publications to get you started. It is the BEST guide to the island and all that it has to offer. Much to see and do that is FREE. Roberts Hawaii Tours offers a good day-trip package to other islands, and that is the way we always went. When you arrive at the airport in Lihue (on Kauai) while you are waiting for your baggage, pick up all the brochures and maps available in the baggage claim area. Then go thru them, pick out the coupons, etc that you can use and also they will have hints to help plan your time there. When you shop go to the Wal-Mart between the hospital and Hilo Hattie's for the best prices on souvenirs, and other essentials. I had my visitors stay at The Kauai Sands hotel which is nice, clean, on the beach and quite reasonably priced. Kauai is by the far the most romantic with plenty of beaches to walk together, walkfalls to swim under and sunset cruises to enjoy the island.  Congratulations on your marriage and ALOHA!!!

  4. Kauai is the most romantic of the ilands for a honeymoon!!

It has lots of waterfalls and exciting adventures to do....

The Fern Grotto is a must for honeymooners..they actually sing the Hawaiian Wedding Song by Elvis Presley...

Its pretty much the most romantic!

  5. maui is the nicest...oahu is the were all the tourists go...kaui is a great place to relax because not many people go there...the big island doesn't have much...kahoolawe is not populated...you aren't allowed on niihau unless you have hawaiian blood...dont go to molokai there isnt alot there...and lanai which no one inhabits there. i suggest going on a cruise of the islands if you aren't sue which one to go to.

  6. Maui gets my vote, every time! :-)

  7. All the islands have different things to offer. If it's your first time, you should go to Oahu where there's a lot to do (snorkeling, shopping, beaches, etc). Some people think there's too many tourists there, but it has more affordable options. The neighbor islands offer different things - like an active volcano on the Big Island (being able to see new land form right before your eyes), amazing cliffs on the Na Pali coast on Kauai, etc. However, the neighbor islands tend to have mostly resorts for the tourists and are a bit more expensive. So it really depends on your budget and preferences which island would suit you best.

  8. I have been to Hawaii 5 times and can tell you that you should not think in terms of visiting just one island when you go there because there is much to see on neighboring islands.  No matter where you live in the US, or anywhere else, its a long way to Hawaii and you should make the most of your trip by simply planning to visit and stay on at least two islands.

You should not go to Hawaii and not visit the island of Oahu and see the Arizona Memorial (Pearl Harbor), Waikiki Beach, and Diamond Head.  And although the Honolulu/Waikiki Beach area is crowded with tourists, you can drive to the other side of the island to deserted beaches and see great scenery.  So plan your honeymoon trip to start on Oahu for 2 to 4 days.

Then you should for sure plan to spend 3 or 4 days on Maui because it is less touristy, has beautiful beaches, and has its own attractions, like the Road to Hana, the downhill bike ride on Haleakala, and beautiful scenery and beaches.

On a couple of my trips to Hawaii I planned the trip so that we flew first to Oahu and then flew from there to Maui, and then flew back home from Maui's airport.  Maui has direct flights back to the US mainland.  You can fly between islands for less than $100 per person and the flights run like commuter flights, about every half hour to an hour all day long.

In addition, there are tour companies that will take you to the other islands for a day.  One company that I have used multiple times is called Roberts.  They have tour that fly you to the other islands and then you board a tour bus, or they will provide you a rental car for the day, then fly you back in the evening.  You can also do this same thing on your own; arrange flights and a car, for other island tours.

So I suggest planning to do two islands and then consider tours to the others.

The top things to do in Hawaii are:

    1. Oahu Island: Go to Pearl Harbor to see history at the US Arizona Memorial. You can drive or take the bus there; no need to book a tour. But you need to go early because the site is popular and the wait for your free tour can be about an hour. In Waikiki you can browse around the International Market across from Waikiki Beach, go on a sunset dinner cruise on Waikiki bay, try an outrigger canoe ride on Waikiki, go for a sail on a catamaran on Waikiki Bay, or visit Diamond Head park. If you like to snorkel go to Hanauma Bay which has perfect flap water for snorkeling on a reef.

    2. Oahu Island: If you are on the island of Oahu go to the other side of the island to see the great deserted beaches (get a rental car for a day or two). Take highway 99 north toward Waimea and stop at the Dole pineapple plantation for a tour.  You will also want to go to a luau while you are there like the one at Paradise Cove: http://www.paradisecove-luau.com/

    3. Oahu Island: The Polynesian Cultural Center is a great place to learn about authentic Hawaiian life. But understand that NO alcoholic beverages served there, not even beer. You can buy tickets to tour the place, and another type ticket that allows you to stay for the evening luau.

    4. Maui Island: If you go to Maui, you gotta do the downhill bike ride. I don't recommend the sunrise one because you have to get up at 3:00 AM to get started up the mountain and its cold up there that early. If you are a romantic do it, but otherwise no. There are different bike companies and some don't take you all the way to the top, and some don't guide you back down. You can come down by yourself, there's only one road with just a little traffic, but if you are squeamish about riding in the street, a company that accompanies you down will help watch the traffic for you. I have been twice and prefer Maui Downhill to the others. These companies have web sites They will pick you up at your hotel, take you to their shop to pick out a wet-suit (for the cold and mist/rain shower maybe) and gloves and helmet; then take you up the mountain; then follow your group down so they can block traffic for your ride; then afterwards take you back to your hotel. Expect this activity to take 75-80% or more of the day.

    5. Maui Island: The Road to Hana is a great drive (you need a rental car). It’s a 45 mile winding road that takes 4 hours to drive. Its like driving through the jungle; has a bunch of one lane bridges. Then drive past Hana to the Seven-Pools attraction and go for a swim.

    6. Big Island of Hawaii: go to the Volcano National Park; take a hike up to the lava flow. Also go see Akaka Falls. If you like horseback riding, go to the Parker Ranch and go for a guided ride. Drive to the south end of the island and see a black sand beach. For information about tours and things to do, click on the link below for Roberts Hawaii. They do tours on all of the islands.

  9. I was born and have been living in Hawai'i for 20 years. I'm telling you Maui is. Kanapalis beaches are huge white sand Beach's that aren't crowded like oahu. You can go to haleakala and observe the entire island. take a horse back ride with just the two of you in poli poli ranch. and escape the world and experience hana which mark twain has been said to have been the garden of Eden. but only fools would try to put hana's beauty into words.I'm seriouse when i say, Maui is by far the most romantic island in hawaii. I mean come on its nick named the No ka oi (number one.) island

  10. Maui

    its beautiful there

    and fun. =)

wish the best of luck  have fun where ever u go!
