What Hotels in Kyoto Japan are Expensive?

i am wanting to go to Kyoto Japan for 2weeks in February 2009, with my best friend, i need to know what kind of prices are we looking at for the price of either a Twin shred room,or 2 singles, in a good hotel Per Night, or for 2Weeks, were not looking for ensuite! like the best!! just somewhere desent and affordable for 2 weeks, Anybody can help me with this info? please say... thanks.

Kyoto would be a great place for you to experience a ryokan.  There are three or four really famous ones (Sumiya, Tawaraya, Hiiragiya, and Kinmata).  I've stayed at Kinmata three times and enjoyed it, especially the food.  The owner took me around and explained the significance of the china and the wall scrolls.  It was great.

I paid about ï¿¥70,000 for one night (around $700) - but that's just for one person; two people will have to pay $1400/night ($700x2).  That includes a great dinner and breakfast.
