I am turning 16 soon, and am a brownbelt. I want to do some really big tournaments, maybe even internationally?

Like, my friend was 12 and a brownbelt when he was invited to Italy for championship and won the World Champ title. He's been all over the US for tournaments.

How could I do that? I am switching dojos and will start training for tournaments- but what are some tournaments I could look forward to? How and how often should I train? I am talking mainly sparring and kata. Shorin Ryu karate. Thanks and God bless!

  1. happy sweet 1. you should check out the tigerclaw elite championships at their website and see when the qualifiers are near you. its 4 all styles and its national. alot of competitors get recognition from this comp.

  2. Take a look at:

    WKF - http://www.karateworld.org/

    NASKA - http://naska.com/

    NBL - http://www.nblskil.com/

Start with tournaments in your area so you can get the feel of it, then start traveling on one of the national or international circuits.
