  1. Being that the Ford Escape Hybrids Hybrid component parts come directly from Toyota it's not all that bad, but mileage could be better to be sure.

It all depends on what you want out of the vehicle, as far as true Hybrids go there are only two, Toyota and Honda.

  2. I WOULD NOT GET ONE AND HERE IS WHY.  ON THE OVERALL YOU WONT SAVE AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU THINK.  THE HYBRIDS ARE 3000 TO 5000 MORE THAN THEIR GAS ONLY COUNTERPARTS.  ALSO IN THREE YEARS YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THE BATTERIES IN YOUR VEHICLE WHICH MAY COST YOU ANOTHER 3,000 DEPENDING ON HOW MANY ARE IN YOUR VEHICLE.

  3. none of the above...

They are all "Luxury hybrids"  Which means they pay more attention to looks and creature comforts than economy.

There are non-hybrid diesels out that get as good or better mileage...

If you want real efficiency from a hybrid it needs to be diesel for the internal combustion part.

Then there's the fact that they have AC... huge waste of energy.  If you're trying to be "green" in your choice of vehicles... AC is the first thing to go.  The AC uses as much as 18% of your fuel.

  4. you pay more for the car.so you work more .so you use more energy at work.then you have to spend more for maintanance parts that cost more to make that use more energy to make.to drive a car that requires more energy to make .so you save on gas .but do you count your trps to kmart every year ?your not helping.its not a start its a speck on the planet.buy a regular car.

  5. A study by the Swiss government just determined that the Prius is the world's greenest car:

Plus it's got tons of room inside due to the hatchback design.  I can fit 2 bicycles inside mine with the back seats down.  Prius is awesome - best car on the road right now.

As you can see in the link below, over a 5 year period the Escape will cost you an extra 5 grand and get 15-20 mpg less than the Prius.

All cars are "foreign".  Even American cars get parts from all different countries.  Does it really matter where they're assembled?  Personally I wouldn't buy an inferior car just because it was assembled in the USA.

  6. Personally, I'd go with the Escape. It gets good gas millage and it's not a foreign car. They're reasonably priced too. Ford is coming out with the Edge Hy Series that's suppose to get 80 mpg. It wont be out till 2011 though.

  7. I have heard really good things about the Prius and my niece owns one and she loves it!
