What I need to bring?

I'm heading to the beach in delaware today, and its going to be a week vacation. Preferably, how much clothes and stuff do you guys bring along? I don't want to be hauling a truck with me ^^ also, I'm only bringing about $20-50 with me for souvenirs (friends family is taking me, so food and gas is all on them ^^) thanks guys :P

Travel light!   We have 4 kids and love to go to the beach.  Each person takes one backpack for the week and that is it.  

My recommendation is to pack everything (everything!) in ziplock bags.  There are gallon size ziplocks for bigger items.  This helps for a couple of reasons.  You can squeeze all the air out and make things smaller but then things also slip into your bag much easier.  And the benefit on the return trip is that anything that still has sand on it is contained as well.  Typically our beach towels are too big and we just put those in regular grocery bags.

The kids always bring two changes of underwear but mostly end up wearing their swimsuits most of the week ( we rinse the suits out at the end of the day but then they often put those back on ).

They wear their big clothes on the trip there ( their jeans, their tennis shoes etc ).

Here is a general list of our essentials

lightweight raincoat

sunscreen

bugspray

mosquito relief cream

100% Aloe gel

bathing suit

sunglasses

sun hat

towel

2 t-shirts

shorts

lightweight button down shirt (polyester so wrinkles can shake out hawaiian print preferredd)

3 change of underwear

3 pairs of socks

flipflops

deck of cards

dell magazine - sudoku / easy crosswords

book

tiny flashlight (to read under the covers if everyone else wants to go to sleep)

toothbrush

toothpaste

waterproof camera

And again Everything in the ziplock bag.

your friends will see you in the same outfit but its not about the fashion its about the fun.  Especially if they are driving and paying for gas and food - they will appreciate that you are a low impact traveler and most likely invite you again.

i bring a weeks worth of clothes (1 set per day) and 2 bathing suites
