  1. Officially all you need is a photo ID (driver's license) but some airlines require a passport - so if booking flights check their conditions!

I once arrived at the airport for a London flight only then realising I had forgotten my passport but, by chance, had my license in my wallet. I asked at the check in desk and was told a driver's license was fine. This was on a Ryanair flight but about 2 or 3 years ago (who I think have changed their policy and require a passport now).

  2. Hi there i'm English and went to Ireland last september on ferry and i never got asked for i.d on my way there or back and i had absolutely none with me,You don't need a passport to go between Ireland and England and as its the only document with your photograph on that proves you are an english citizen then there can be no need for any other photographic evidence! Hope this helps

  3. if you are flying with ryanair you need a passport.....

  4. im pretty sure that any government recognized I.D. will do, as long as it is a legal one, i think you can do it with validate!

  5. Yea it should be fine, you DONT need a passport but anything with your photo and date of birth will do

  6. Try a railcard, student ID, work ID.  Something with your photo, dob and name on it. Otherwise, I'm afraid you won't be going. - you could take the risk like singledad suggests, and you might be fine, but there is a chance you will be stopped (depends if you are flying - you definately will, if you are going by ferry then probably not) and then sent home.

  7. Between Southern Ireland and England you will need a passport.

  8. a citizen card will do.

  9. don't worry all you need is photo id, they will check it because security is so high, when i went in march i had to take my boots and socks off. just ring the air line your flying with, Arie linguis are a bit tougher then the others so just be nice and they will be nice back.

  10. Any decent photo id, 9 times out of 10 they dont even ask anyway

  11. It will be easier if you go by boat. If you go by air some airlines are stricter than others. You must have a passport for Ryanair and Aer Lingus are pretty tough too. They always check ID in any case. Get some ID that has a photo or have ID and a recent separate passport size photo on your person at least. Good luck.

  12. i travelled last year with my driving licence to ireland, the new one with the photograph. most airlines like ryanair as i understand wants a passport

2 years ago i flew with air france from London city, they wanted a passport.

best bet, check with, who you are travelling with

  13. You'll only get asked for id if you are flying. If flying, any photo id will do.
