  1. passport

  2. bring your passposrt

  3. i've been to Ireland alot in my lorry and only ever needed my driving licence, but i haven't been for a couple of years, so don't take my word as gospel.

  4. There are three basic ways of entering Ireland - by ferry, by air, or by land from Northern Ireland - the land border is the easiest to cross without any checks but to get to Northern Ireland in the frst place requires a ferry trip or flight as well, unless you live there.

Sadly, in order to board a flight or catch a ferry, it is necessary for "security purposes" to produce some form of photo ID - which for most of us means a vaild passport, though driving licences are acceptable.  LEGALLY you don't NEED a passport, but with security being what it is these days it is almost impossible to travel without one.

Assuming you could row a dingy across the Irish Sea or swim it, you can legally enter Ireland from England as a citizen of the United Kingdom without any ID at all.  Of course, if the police see you they will what to see proof that you are really English (and exempt from using a passport), but guess what form of ID they will want to see?   It is a vicious circle!!

  5. any photo id

  6. You will need photographic id............e.g. passport, drivers licence

  7. Once upon a time there was no necessity to produce ID when travelling between Ireland and the UK but now you need a passport, just like in every other country you visit.

We had a huge spate of illegal immigrants coming to Ireland that it was inevitable.

  8. A passport, and any other form of photographic evidence.

  9. You don't need a passport to go from England to Ireland, as there is a special agreement between the two countries. But you will need some sort of id with a photo on it. A driving licence would be good.

Of course, if you have a passport that is the best sort.

Be warned, if you are "foreign looking", that is, of a race different from the one normally living in Ireland, then the immigration officers will pick on you, so be sure to have good id.

  10. All you need is your driving licence or passport

  11. be a boyscout and come prepared for every eventuality.  bring your passport and drivers license incase you want to rent car or something if you've got age card with photo bring that incase you want to go out.  bring two photographic id's anyways because sometimes they want two forms of identification
