  1. If you're going on a cruise, your cruise ship or travel agent will let you know the type of documents you may need such as passports, visas etc.

  2. The first consideration is when are you going cruising.  If you cruise departs from and returns to a US port in calendar year 2007 (this year) all you need is a Government issued photo ID or birth certificate.  If your cruise departs from the US or anywhere after January 1, 2008 you WILL need a passport to reenter the US.  In addition, If you take a cruise this calendar year and for some reason (like you get sick) and have to fly back to the US then you will need a passport.

The web site below will answer all of your questions about passports.

In addition, just go to the web site for the cruise line that you booked and they will have all of the passport and ID requirements listed on their main pages.

  3. I think right now all you need is birth certificate and photo id. I believe in 2008 you will need a passport, and some other forms of id.Check with your travel agent and they can tell you more.

  4. If you are going prior to January 2008, and are leaving from and returning to the US, then a state issued ID is enough.

  5. Until as early as Jan 2008 you need a birth certificate and photo id.  After this time you will need a passport.

  6. you will need to at least have your driver's license

as passport is not required, but you should TAKE ONE.  If you get stranded in a foreign port you WILL NOT be able to re-enter the USA without your passport

  7. You will need a passport, and I believe 2 other photo ID's other than the passport.
