  1. Hey. I'm 14, and I made a 29 of 36 on my second attempt at the ACT.  Generally, schools on the east coast prefer the SAT, which does not punish you if you leave questions unanswered. The ACT is generally easier, but it is to your best advantage to guess on every question.

  2. Colleges on the east coast only take the SAT. In the midwest by Ohio and Indiana, the ACT is preferred but either test is usually accepted. On the West Coast, the ACT is the only test.

Each is different in it's own ways. The ACT does not penalize for wrong answers and the SAT does not penalize for skipping.

The ACT is in 4 parts: Math, Writing (Grammar), Reading, and Science. The SAT only has Writing (Grammar), Reading, and Math - there is also an essay to test your writing. There is an essay for the ACT, but it's optional.

  3. as far as i know, "act" is good for a university within your state while "sat" are accepted nationally. some universities prefer "sat".
