What IS a graphics tablet?

I bought a Trust Slimline Design (TB-5300) graphics tablet today thinking I knew what it was, it seems like I was incorrect.

So I have some questions:

On a graphics tablets touch bit should the picture of the computer

screen come up?

If no to the previous question, how the h**l do you draw with it?

Also can you explain what a graphics tablet actually is?

I hope you can clear this up for me.

Thank you

Katie

  1. A graphics tablet allows you to draw or write using the tablet and a pen-like device. It works like a pen and paper, except what you draw or write on the tablet will only appear on your monitor. A screen will not appear on the tablet, so it takes some getting used to, in that you have to look at the screen to see what you're drawing. There are tablets that have a built in monitor so that you can draw directly on the screen, but they are pricey -- about $5000.

  2. No the computer screen does not come up. That bit is how you control it, and you can lift up the flap and put a picture to trace in it.

There is a pen with it which you put batteries in. Have you installed it on your computer? You must put the USB in and click on the bubble that comes up, follow the instructions.

If you go on paint you just draw with the pen on the tablet like a piece of paper.

  3. I Have one

once you have plugged it in you use the pen dont look at the tablet look at the screen go on paint or a picture programme - then draw

  4. A graphics tablet is an input device - It has a tablet & a stylus, sometimes a mouse too, and is designed to be used with graphics software to be more convenient for accurate drawing & editing.

    It doesn't display any pictures.

To use it, you need to install the drivers & read the instructions.
