Question:

What ISP would you recommend?

This question is based on the UK only. I have been with Orange Broadband for some years now and until recently found them OK. My wireless router developed a problem which I tried to report to Orange. After spending what must be around £18.00 on 0906 phone numbers to some clown in India it was found to be the adaptor that was at fault. A new one was ordered, but I am still waiting for it to be delivered. (Ten days ago)

This is my question: Does anyone know of a reliable ISP that gives good customer service within the UK?

  1. yes BT. even though it is more expensive than other broadband but its more reliable. but do not join TALK TALK. cuz they suck badly. they are the worse ISP company in the UK. i have BT broadband and my internet connectiion hasnt dropped once.

  2. virgin

  3. BT- never had a problem and advice is excellent

  4. im using my neighbour internet and they are on bt i never have a problem

  5. Virgin Media is really good.

I get around 1.5 megabytes per second on a 20 mb line. Very low ping and hardly any download limits. There are limits but they're so high that it won't matter. I've had a few problems with payments (wrong amount on the wrong date), but they sorted out the problems and the connection itself is the best I've found. I've been with them six months and I'd definately recommend them.

I pay £35 per month for phone and broadband.

If you live in a cable street I would say

go with Virgin. They use fibre optic

broadband which is a lot faster than ADSL

and don't rely on phone lines

If you don't and have to use ADSL, bear in

mind that whoever you chose, they all have

to use BT's phone lines, exchanges etc because

there is no other telephone network to use.

  7. I would recommend BT as an ISP. BT are very established in all forms of telecommunications, so a switch to BT would do you no harm.

I also had trouble with Orange broadband recently, and it was around two months ago that I switched to BT. No troubles so far, and as an added bonus you'll get free customer support if you have a BT phoneline.

  8. BT.

BT Home Hub + extremely reliable connection + BT Vision + Freephone Customer Service = 10 out of 10
