what if one day, Earth's gravity just dissapeared.

Will we still survive?

Will there still be rain falling from the Sky?

Will be look different if we live in an environment with no gravity?

Or tell me what you think the Earth will be like with out gravity.

  1. The earth I'd imagine would wobble out of control and orbit itself right into the sun or SLAM into the moon and other cosmic objects floating around in space. What you're describing though defies the laws of physics. However, the earth can shift it's gravitational pull as it's done before.

Would we survive during this process? My guess would be no. If there is a shift in the poles, the North star also known as Polaris will be in the South pole if that makes any sense. Climate changes, ice ages and all sorts of catastrophic things would occur, making it pretty difficult for life to live. But since I've never been through such catistrophic events, I wouldn't have a clue. But I gave it my best shot to help out here.

  2. We would all die.  We would float up to the upper atmosphere and suffocate and our bodies would be burnt to nothing.

  3. Everything would simply float off into space. Also, there would be no more oxygen.

  4. well first of all, all living things on this earth will die unless they have an unlimited supply of oxygen somewhere.  also everything will float off the Earth.  because gravity is what holds down the atmosphere and basically our oxygenl with that gone, Earth has no oxygen, and also with the atmosphere gone, and no ozone to protect it from the sun, the Earth will be really hot.  and I don't think rain will fall from the sky anymore with the atmosphere gone.  also, now that I think of it, there might be no Earth at all lol.  'cause gravity comes from the center of the earth and is what basically holds a planet together, the planet may not be able to keep it's shape, and will just break apart in space

  5. The Earth will break apart, if not it will be cold because there was no atmosphere, we will float of to space, slowly suffocating to death.

  6. This planet would become inhabitable, rain would stay in the atmosphere, all animals and humans would end up decaying there...  the planet would die.

  7. Don't forget about inertia!

Any solid object that was not moving would likely stay where it is.  So, if gravity suddenly disappeared and you were really still, inertia just might hold you in place as long as nothing else touched you.... not even a gentle breath of air.

But, people cannot be perfectly still, so even at your best, eventually you'd start to float away.

Air and water, however, have molecules that are not fixed in place, so their internal molecular energy would cause them to disappear into space much, much faster than solid objects.  First the atmosphere would disappear quickly, and as the air pressure dropped, the oceans would start to boil away quickly at their usual temperature (you can boil water at regular room temperature if you remove all the air above it).  And, of course, if someone were panicking and grabbed on to you as they floated by, you'd float away, too.

I suppose you could hold on to a tree for a while.  If you didn't die from asphyxiation or dehydration or starvation or your body exploding into the newly formed vacuum, you might just stay there.  But then an earthquake might happen, and this would dislodge the rocks and some of them would start floating away.  Earthquakes might become temporarily much more common since the force that holds the planet together is no longer present.

Eventually, everything would be turned into dust and debris floating chaotically throughout the universe.  Fortunately for us, the laws of the universe make this whole scenario an impossibility.

  8. well im not too big about science but my guess would be that Earth's atmosphere all together just kinda went away and everything held down would just go up towards space

    but that's just my guess

  9. not possible

  10. The earth will not lose gravity, but if it did:

    1. we would not survive because we wouldnt have air or oxygen to breathe, and we would float into space, and we would all die. especially when we went through the atmosphere, many people would just burn up in the atmosphere.

    2. no rain would not fall because gravity pulls rain down. it would go up until it got cold enough and it would turn to hail and would burn in the atmosphere.

    3. we would not be able to live in an environment with no gravity. it would be impossible, and yes we would loook different. we would be floating up and we couldnt do anything except float up. plus we cant have an environment with no gravity. everything would float up and would turn to debris.

    4. well there would be nothing: no people, no houses, no trees, no cars, no buildings, no towns, no countries, and all the water would go up as well. there would not be any oceans or anything. which means no water. no water means death.

I hope this helped you understand better.  (=

  11. We would all die because the oxygen would leave earth and we would suffocate.

  12. That won't and wouldn't happen. Remember Newton?

  13. We would be SOL! Seriously, if the earth lost gravity we would not be on earth!! We would die because we would float into outer space and suffocate without oxygen.

  14. Oh my gosh! I was thinking the same thing the other day and I dreamed about it. We would all die because basically everyone would fall off earth and fly into space with a great force. There is probably no chance of living because of the force of the stop if gravity disappered would be super strong and we would fly off and we would have no oxygen after a while..all I know is..that would suck! Best of luck pondering about what would happen! :)

  15. Everyone would be floating around!

  16. we would fall off the face of the earth into the outer limits, and maybe suffocate until we realize maybe we should stop panicking and take a deep breath.

  17. well then the earth would explode very slowly, and if it happened to the earth it probably happened everywhere else. Maybe a Black hole

  18. everyone would die... most likely, it wouldn't be a plesant experience...

  19. We would drift to void, before that we would die.

  20. We would all die. Unless we were in space suits with unlimited oxygen.

  21. For that to happen the atmosphere would disappear and we would all be dead very fast and it would wipe out all life on earth...

  22. Ok well the only way that could happen is that the earth would no longer exist.

If by some miracle it did the atmosphere would leave us and we would all die.

If we survived that everyone would be taller, and have weaker bones but besides that pretty much the same.

  23. That would stink.
