What is a light Microscope and What is it used for..?

A light microscope is a microscope that has a mirror that reflects light from a source like the sun from a window or a lamp.  The mirror reflects the light from under the platform to the bottom of the slide. You would just look through the eye piece and magnify the image to what you would want.

  3. I guess there are two possible meanings:

    a) the opposite of a heavy microscope,

    b) the opposite of an electron microscope (which uses a beam of electrons to examine very small objects). I think though that "optical microscope" would be a better term for this meaning.
