I happend to walk by his tank and he is sitting in the back of it, half way out of his shell, and his legs have turned a black color in the middle with a tan-ish color on the outer rim. Is he molting?

  1. give him some crushed cuttlebone (found in bird section at pet store - they are cheap) as well as some honey, do NOT touch him - a vet couldn't do anything for him at this point and moving him will just stress him out and further endanger him!  make sure his cage is the right temp (70-80 degrees) and level of humidity (70-80%)...  is his substrate deep enough for him to dig in? they prefer to bury when molting... it is safer that way too..

  2. if  that's whats happening then take it to the animal doctor..he will know the best about it >>!!!!

  3. He might be molting but its always best

to see a vet. if there is no vet that works

on kind of pets like hermit crabs you

can still see if they can tell you what to

do if you give them a call. good luck:)
