  1. LDL = Low Density Lipoprotein. It is known as "bad" because it transports cholesterol and triglycerides from the liver into the bloodstream where they can precipitate increasing the risk of the development of atherosclerosis and other vascular diseases, such as heart attack and stroke.

In contrast, HDL (High Density Lipoprotein) is known as the "good cholesterol" because it has an opposite effect: it carries fatty acids and cholesterol from the bloodstream and body's tissues to the liver. Therefore, LOW levels of HDL can predispose an individual to various diseases.

  2. Low Density Lipoprotein... it's a type of cholesterol.... it's the "bad" type... that clogs vessels..... in a blood screen you should want your LDLs to be lower than 100....

and HDLs (which are the good ones) higher than 40....

and you want your total cholesterol lower than 200

  3. Low Density Lipoprotein, a "bad" form of cholesterol that can clog blood vessels.
