  1. To add to what Leo said, the Macquarie Marshes are a major feature of the  Macquarie River. They are large marshland areas that cover about 200,000 hectares.

    "The Macquarie Marshes are located in the north-east corner of the catchment and the Macquarie River does emerge from the wetlands before being joined by the Castlereagh River and then flowing into the Barwon River near Brewarrina."

  2. The Macquarie River is one of the main inland rivers in New South Wales. It headwaters rise in the central highlands of New South Wales near the town of Oberon. The river travels generally northwest past the towns of Bathurst, Wellington, Dubbo and Warren to the Macquarie Marshes and the Barwon River.
