Question:

What Is The Best Jewellry For An Anti-Eyebrow Piercing?

Okay so, whenever I try to find out what one is best it just ends up confusing me. Is a curved barbel the best or one of those staple-like surface bars.

Also if I do get it done how should I go about cleaning it and how long should I go without makeup?

Thankyou.

  1. In my opinion, the best thing for an Anti-Eyebrow piercing are microdermals rather than the piercing. Curved barbells should NEVER be meant for a surface piercing as that's just like asking it to reject. Surface bars are okay, but I never had luck on them and the piercings rejected (nape and sternum). Tygon jewelry is always nice for surface piercings and so far so good on the ones I have with tygon (3 napes).

Microdermals are basically single-point piercings, while they still can reject they have less of a chance of doing so. In my experience they're the easiest piercings I have ever gotten and ever taken care of. My boyfriend has anti-eyebrow microdermals and they're beautiful.

As for cleaning a piercing you should do two sea salt soaks a day (1 liter of aquafina water mixed with a 1 teaspoon non-iodized sea salt), as well as using Provon or Satin Soap in the shower. But the piercer should be able to tell you all this. For make-up around the piercing it would be best to wait until it heals (surface piercings can take a year to fully heal, whereas microdermals take like 2-3 months to fully heal).

  2. Well MOST surface piercings should definately be done with a surface bar, there are the odd few like eyebrows and such, but the general rule is if its a flatish bit use a surface bar.

If you're certain you want the piercing for a long time, then I'd go for microdermals instead. Though they can stil reject, its alot less likely. And to be honest the scarring just as bad as if it rejected.

    I'd say microdermals.

Make-up is fine just avoid foundation and other skin stuff in that area while its still being crusty or sore. And I'd leave it until it was completely healed. Eye make-up should be fine as long as you're very careful, and don't go overboard too much. The piercing shouldn't be that close your eye anyway.

Cleaning-wise go for sea salt soaks.

1-8 tsp sea salt  to a cup of warm distilled water.

  3. NEVER use a curved or straight barbell in a surface piercing, as it makes it almost certain to reject. Use a surface bar.

Clean it twice a day with sea or rock salt solution. Mix 8 ounces of boiled water with a quarter of a teaspoon of salt and soak it with that.

Don't wear make-up around the area if you can help it until it is healed. Foundation/concealer etc can get into the piercing and stop it healing as quickly, so when putting on make-up just avoid the area of your piercing.

    Hope this helped.

  4. Not sure how a surface bar would go. My anti-brow was done with a curved barbell. All piercers go about things in different ways. Most of the time. I've had my piercing for 17 months now. It's still doing good. Like most piercings, you will need to keep it clean.

    Cleaning tips:

--Wash piercing three times a day with a mild antibacterial soap and warm water. (i.e. Dial, Lever 2000). Be sure soap is free of fragrance and lotion.

--Rotate jewelry to allow the soap to get inside the piercing, be sure to rinse soap completely out. Rotation to avoid flesh adherence to the jewelry is not necessary with today's materials.

--Rinse a couple times a day with warm salt water. (i.e. non-iodized table salt, sea salt or sterile saline solution). This will help to minimize the appearance of redness and irritation. This solution will not clean your piercing. It is meant only to aid in the healing process.

As for the makeup part. I'd suggest not wearing any powder or foundation over the area. No moisturizer..no nothing! =]] That's pretty much all there is to it. Keep in mind that my tips ARE different compared to some parlors aftercare sheets they give you.

Hoped I helped a bit. Good luck! ^_^

  5. every surface piercing should be done with a staple shaped bar (the ends are at a 90 degree angle)

the shape reduces the risk of it rejecting, if you use a curved or straight barbell - the angle of it through the tissue is so unnatural it will reject very easily.

this will tell you everything you need to know:

  6. It would be best obviously with a surface bar to minimize rejection, but in such a small area the only option out of those two would be curved barbell. I agree it will almost definitely reject BUT if it's something you don't want in the long term, it would be an okay option. If you want more of a permanent option, i'd choose dermal anchors. Wash 2 times a day with sea salt and warm water. You don't have to go without makeup, just dont put it near your piercing. x
