There is no "best" paintball gun.

First off what do you want it for. There are basically 2 types of paintball markers.

There is Speedball type markers which look nothing like real guns and shoot fast bcs games last from 10 seconds too 10min.

There is also Woodsball type markers that look like real guns and are built for realism like scenario or military simulation.

A decent Scenario Gun will run you from $250-$600

A decent Speedball Marker will run you about $500-$1000

for woodsball go with a tippmann A-5

Speedball guns are better in the woods than "woodsball" guns even in the woods. For 275 the Proto Matrix Rail, and for 325 the Invert Mini. Unlike the other guy who answered (not being rude) I think that these are the best guns in this price range.
