  1. No, the first answer is a literal translation and wouldn't make any sense.

I actually have no idea what the actual translation is, but I'd hazard a guess at:

"Un véritable ami entre lorsque tous les autres quittent."

  2. "Un vrai ami est celui qui demeure quand le reste du monde te/vous quitte." (A true friend is he who remains/stays when the rest of the world leaves you.)

  3. Un vrai ami a un ans dans qui marche quand le reste du monde marche dehors

  4. Dude the man could have copy pasted it on yahoo translate just as easily as u did !! he was looking for some1 who speaks frnch ! as in me :D

So he's the translation that makes sense :

" Un vrai ami est celui qui marche enver toi, tandi que le reste du monde marche loin de toi.." And btw very nice quote !! in both languages!!!

  5. Are you sure it has one? i can translate it for you but i don't know a colloquial version in common use

  6. un vrai ami c'est un ami qui entre dans ta vie lorsque tout le monde t'a abandonne

un vrai ami c'est un ami qui (t'aidera)/sera/marchera toujours avec toi lorsque tout le monde t'a abandonne

that's what i could think of

  7. Un véritable ami est celui qui vient vers toi quand tout le monde te quitte.

  8. Caileih and Darius have given you the nearest literal translations.

    You could also have:

"Un véritable ami vient à vous quand les autres vous lâchent/ laissent tomber"

(A true friend comes towards you when the others abandon/ drop you).

The nearest equivalents in colloquial use in France are the following:

"C'est dans le besoin qu'on reconnaît ses vrais amis."

Literal translation: It's when in need that one recognises one's  true friends.

Idiomatic translation: A friend in need is a friend indeed.

"Les amis véritables se reconnaissent à l'épreuve du malheur"

(True friends are recognisable in times of misfortune)

"Le malheur a cela de bon qu'il permet de reconnaître vos vrais amis"

(The positive side of  misfortune is that it enables you to recognise your true friends)
