Ive been on holiday all week with my friends and due in the week my tongue started to get really sore and swollen. It spread all over my mouth And when I got home yesterday and showed my mum she said it was mouth thrush she phoned the doctors and they said the same and recommended some mouth gel to apply 5 times a day but its not working and it spread all down my throat! Does anyone have any ideas as to what it may be?

  1. if it is spreading to your throat then you should go to a&e as it may start to affect your breathing / blocking your throat

  2. What you call "mouth thrush" is oral candidiasis.  You haven't described it and I can't imagine how someone could diagnose you sight unseen over the phone.  "Mouth gel" isn't the customary treatment.

I suggest you see your own doctor in person and get examined and diagnosed.

  3. ...gahh.

  4. its thrush

  5. std

  6. hmmm... could possibly be scarlet fever, quite possibly mouth thrush or mayb but unlikely tonsilitis, best solution would b go to the chemist as they will be able to recommend a treatment or advise you to see a doctor

  7. Like the doctor told you, its thrush

  8. It probably is thrush but if its getting worse u should go & see you Dr in person tomorrow as you may need tablets as well; the gel will only treat the areas it is put on.  As it is worsening it is probably a systemic infection & needs medication to treat your whole system.

U should also be able to buy some pastilles from your local chemist called NYSTAN which will help.

If its really painful, gargle with & then swallow asprin dissolved in a little milk (providing you are able to take asprin e.g. u r not asthmatic); other than that take regular paracetamol as per packet instructions

  9. It's a yeast infection. Just use the meds the doc gave you consistently. It will clear up with time.

  10. gonorrhoea/ aids/ herpes

  11. that same thing happend to me, its probably just strep, gargle some warm water with salt,, and every so often gargle a little bit of lemon juice diluted

  12. Most likely an allergic reaction. You should see a doctor fast.

Citric acids found in granola tend to irritate the tongue.

  13. Go to a doctor.

  14. HAHAH NEW ORLEANS COMMENT HAHAHAHA slow down ma he could be right LMAO
