I'm 17 and will be going to Malgrat (Costa Brava) this summer and would like to know the actuall age limit for drinking. All over the internet people are saying 18 and others are saying 16, I would just like a definet answear so I can go clubbing.

Also if it is 16 is it worth me taking my ID to the clubs?

Many Thanks

  1. 18 for drinking, smoking.......all

    Im spanish =)

  2. i think it's 18, but they really dont even check ID most of the time. when i was over there, they only checked spanish people!

  3. The legal drinking age is 18, most places do not check id, but if you look young they might. You can enter bars if you are not 18, exclusive clubs might be different.

  4. I think it's 18 but who gives a .  I just got back from Spain and I drank in Salamanca when I was 15 (in bars, discotecas, and restaurants), and Seville (bar) and Costa del Sol (restaurant and bar) when I was 16.  You can't get into any trouble, only the bar owners and bartenders who serve you the alcohol can.

In Toledo I was 15, and I was with two girls who were 16, and one who was 17, and they wouldnt serve us alcohol at this one restaurant, but I did hear about some other people on our trip being served it at other restaurants in Toledo, so I don't know what that was all about.

We didn't try in Madrid or Granada but I think the answer would have been no.  They definitely wouldn't have let us into the discotecas there either.

Was never asked for ID.  The plan was to just say "no lo tengo." if they asked, but they never did.

Sorry my mid-trip birthday makes this whole thing kinda confusing. haha

    Have fun!
