  2. I have not been able to find any minimum width requirements on Canadian roads, but did find a regulation regarding access roads for public campgrounds stating that the roadways must be at least 6.1 metres wide.

    I would think that most roads made today stick to a standard that makes the roads wide enough so two cars can safely pass each other without having to swerve to avoid a collision.

    However, many roads out there and even some bridges date back to the days when people rode around on horses or in covered buggies. They may only be wide enough for one car to pass safely.

    So really, you need to ask what type of road you have to your house. Is it a new development? Is it a one-way street? Is your road REALLY a road or is it considered an access way to get to your property?
