I have a small Office at home that Is 15amps and I was thinking of buying a space heater for those cold nights and mornings that is 1500 watts, 13amps. Would I be ok using this while running my computer and a light? Thanks!

  1. You'd be pushing the limit but it would probably work. I'd suggest a smaller heater and using no more than the pc and light.

  2. depends on the total wattage being used, but in a bigger fuse/breaker

  3. Rule of thumb is 80% of the circuit breaker rating. You can run 12 amps forever without tripping the breaker.  The closer you get to 15 the faster you'll trip.  Your exact voltage level measures in too.  If you're normal power is higher than 115v your actual amperage use will be less.

  4. Nope, it will tip the breaker on a regular basis.  Do not use an extension cord through from another room, that is also a fire hazard.  Call a qualified professional electrician to do some modifications to your wiring.

  5. Breakers trip when there is an overdraw of current.  If all the wall outlets are on a single 15 amp breaker, and you want to use your computer, space heater, and light on then it's not going to work, sorry.
