  1. Cricket sucks. It is pointless.

  2. Cricket is a lot better game than baseball in many respects but in short it requires better field placement, better bating stroke selections, a lot of variety in bowling techniques. A cricket match doesn't go beyond five days but the ODI are limited to only 50 overs for each team. In baseball there are 9 players were as in cricket there are 11 players. In baseball a pitcher once taken out can not come back to pitch but in cricket a bowler can come back if the captain wants him to bowl. Personally I think cricket is more challenging game both for the players as well as the spectators. I find more fun than baseball.

  3. what's the point of baseball? it's a copy of cricket. u run in a diamond. three miss hits and the person is out. if the person doesn't make it to the first base they out. three outs and the other team bat. shut ur bullshit up. u catch the ball wit a huge glove wit makes it super easy and in cricket, the ball is alot harder and u have to catch it wit bare hands. Cricket is WAY popular than baseball. Baseball is mainly played in usa, but cricket is played all over the world and now europeans are starting to play, like holland, scotland, ireland.

  4. To have fun and for entertainment - cricket is a really complex sport but for the people that do understand it - it is truly an awesome sport!!

you can get much information in this website, stay a minute in website and check anyone link at a time, you can aslo get your answer in Google Search in this website, which has helped me alot

  6. I would say baseball is played in the US as an alternative to cricket which the world plays (Even US had played 2 ODI matches in cricket). Baseball is cricket miniaturised.

As any other sport, cricket has recreational & entertainment values. Cricketers has to put in prolonged & sustained effort to reach the pinnacle.

In modern days, a test cricket match will go on for utmost 5 days. An One Day International (ODI) will last 8 hours, and a 20-20 match will last only 3 hours.

  7. I agree with KooKee,& I am sick of Americans coming here trying to get something going. Just remember, while your country is out bombing & fighting anything that moves, we are playing cricket & making friends, & there is more point to that then fighting them IMO.

  8. First of all baseball is played instead of cricket.  Europe countries are not great  playing cricket nations.  England , Australia, South Africa, New Zealand , West Indies, India, Sirlanka (not sure of spelling) these countries are your great playing country. The only country in Europe that i can think of quickly that plays cricket is Netherlands. There are now 3 forms of cricket that is played on an international platform. 1) Test matches   these are ones that carry of for no more than 5 days. They can be won within 3 days.  2) Limited overs  Played in 1 day  3) 20/20. Played also in one day. The point of cricket is to out play your opponents as in any other sport. They say cricket is played by gentlemen but that remains to be seen and that also depends on which teams are playing against each other.

  9. The same could be asked of any sport, couldn't it? The point of Cricket is, like all sports, to entertain spectators and provide a venue of friendly competition for the participants.

If by "point" you really mean how does the game work then that is something different altogether. It is fairly similar to baseball in that there is at any given time one team on defense, in the field and bowling (pitching) and another on offense with two batsmen (batters). The job of the batsmen is to defend the wickets while scoring runs. The wicket is three wooden posts about 3 ft high behind each batsman across which is laid two wooden bails (cross post dowels). The bowler throws the ball to the batsman with the intent of knocking the bails off. The batsman tries to hit the ball. If he succeeds then he and the batsman opposite him run and switch places and that is how they score runs. The bails can be knocked off whenever the batsmen are away from the wicket and running. The "inning" is over when the bails have all been knocked off.

  10. Cricket is a game of skills.

    What's in it for fans?

Getting behind the nation you support, and supporting them till the very end. Gives you a feeling of victory, even though you've been sitting on your butt doing basically nothing. Can't get better than that.

Really cricket is an amazing sport, and once you look closely at the game you'll sooon realise how great it really is. Don't just take a glimpse at the game, watch it, you'll love it.

  11. Cricket is a great game.

for ur info it has three versions..

Test - goes on for 5 days

    One Dayers - 50 over each side (1 over = 6 balls/deliveries)

T20 - 20 overs each side (game finishes in around 3.5 hrs)

Each has different tactics, specialized gameplay and deiffernt audiences. So play or see whatever suits you.

  12. Ahh the time old question what is the point.  The point is to achieve.  To strive against opposition. To work as a team for a common goal.

I enjoy cricket and baseball but rarely have the opportunity to play baseball.  Almost a dead sport in Australia.  I love the fact that there are 2 distinct phases to the game and and the game can be won or lost from either position.  I dont agree with irishrunner1 that fielding is necessarily the defensive side of the sport.  Two examples:-

Brett Lee hurling a red rock at you at 100 miles an hour with 3 slips 2 gulleys and a backward point.

Muralitharan coming at you with eyes glaring while there 3 fielders under crashhats all around the bat and slip as well.

Uday - I anticipate the rise of International Beach cricket. As played in Australia by international teams like Australia Enlgand West Indies and New Zealand.  It is a riot.

Just to stoke the fire a bit, Isnt Baseball and Olympic sport? (It might have only been for the Atlana games, host nation gets to add a sport of their choice if i remember rightly)

    Has cricket ever been?

Holy c**p, i've got it.  BRAIN WAVE ALERT!!!

Maybe now that we have this new compact version of the game it is able to be suggested to be olypic sport.  20/20 cricket OLYMPIC stlye!!!!!

If that is the legacy that 20/20 will bring to the game of cricket then maybe i could change my reluctance to accept 20/20.

How is that for a cracker of an Idea.  You heard it first on these forums PPL. remember that when someone rips off my idea!!

  13. Cricket is the 2nd most popular sport in the world wayyyyy ahead of baseball!!

Cricket is played all over the world!!! Baseball is played mainly in America!!

As you can see cricket is a more popular sport than Baseball!! so why did you ask such an ignorant question??? when you could have just looked it up on the internet

Gosh Americans annoy me SO MUCH!

  14. i completely agree with Len Anders!

  15. Cricket is a symbol of eternity. If Cricket is pointless, so is Soccer or Tennis. Life is pointless.
