Treating the receptionist badly is one, and showing up with alcohol on the breath and having horrible tattoos or piercings is another. What do YOU think?

  1. chewing gum, dirty hair, dirty fingernails, putting down former employers, talking on your cell phone during the interview, interrupting the interviewer, bringing your baby/child to an interview, acting bored, not making eye contact, having smelly body odor/poor appearance/hygiene issues

  2. Dressing like a bum

  3. coming late, which shows that you are not punctual.  being rude to the employer, leaving cell phone on during interview, eating during interview

yeah, alcohol on breath is really bad too

  4. I think it would look REALLY bad on someone if they answered their cell phone in an interview. Having it go off is one thing. Depending on the interviewer, they might understand that people forget to turn their phone on "Silent" everyone in a while. But I've heard of people actually stopping the interview to answer their cell phone! Perhaps we're getting a liiiiiiittle too dependent on modern technology.....

  5. OK, I'll set aside the absurd, like taking a dump on the office floor.

Now, there are two ways to look at that question: What's the rudest thing you can do, and what's most likely to keep you from getting hired.  The answers overlap a lot, though.

The rudest is probably being late.  And it'll keep you unemployed because if you can't show up on time for the interview, you're probably not going to show up on time for work, either.

Misrepresenting yourself will keep you unemployed.  And it's rude because it insults the intelligence of your interviewer, who you can bet will see through a padded resume in about two questions.

  6. f**t A LOT!

    &BURP!

    &FIX THRE BRA!

    &SCRATCH THEMSELVES!

    ooh yeah.

  7. / Bad Interview Techniques ( won't get you the job):

    1. Avoiding eye contact, or being distracted by anything (cellphone, someone walking by, Interviewer's clothing or figure) other than the Interviewer's eyes

    2. Frowning (which shows disinterest)

    3. Not listening to the Interviewer

    4. Cutting off or finishing the Interviewer's sentences

    5. Body odor, and other unattractive personal hygene (unbrushed teeth, tattoos, messy hair, inappropriate clothing, disgusting fingernails)

Like you said, "treating the receptionist badly" is one, because everyone who works there was hired.  That's your goal as well, and employees have a way of getting information around quicker than you can go from the front door to the chair in front of the Interviewer's desk.

  8. Showing up with a lot of shopping bags.

  9. Taking a call on your cell phone mid-interview!

  10. Not using proper english when speaking.

  11. wearing hooker clothes would be pretty bad

  12. Looking at your watch during the interview.  That's a sure fire way not to get the job even if things were going great up to that point.

  13. acting like this business can't go on without you and either hinting that or flat out telling the interviewer that.

  14. Yes all that would be very bad. .or not turning up or turning up late for an interview is enough to make them decide against hiring that person because it shows irreliability. one should not be too early.. but 10 mins before the scheduled time you should be talking to the receptionist and give your name and tell her you are there for the interview with  X.. about the job.as a xxxx

Alcohol definitely is a big no, no.. and the receptionist to be rude to her..  If that is an office job. or a higher position one should wear a suit as a guy anyhow and as a woman something neat and professional.. and preferrably a blouse with long sleeves.. so I hope horrible tatoos would be covered and piercings.. are not allowed.. unless it's a piercing that's not visible.. like a belly button piercing.. being late more than  5 minutes is already a ''goodbye to the job'' they won't hire that person even if one got stuck in traffic.. they think you calculate the time.. properly.. if there is a snowstorm you got to leave 2 hours early to make it if necessary.. Unless there is a terrible accident and it's on the news that the whole road to get there has been blocked.. then they might understand in that case phone from from your cell phone and explain why you are delayed. the worst thing is to be late and not to even phone and apologize and let them know you got lost or something that would show rudeness and being unprofessional and unreliable. at least one should phone them asap and if one has a very good reason they might understand...  xx

  15. not dressing appropriately, and using inappropriate language.

  16. Farting! Oh that would be very very bad to f**t during an interview or before you leave the office! Off colored jokes would be another bad thing to do. Oh your cellphone goes off and you take the call. Come on remember to turn your ringer off! Yeah alcohol on breath or just bad breath, dirty clothing... I could go on.
