Cancun is wonderful!!  There are lots of different things to do - something to suit everyone!  Chichen Itza and Tulum are great if you want to see ruins - they are only a short drive south.  Isla Mujeres is a beautiful island just off the coast of Cancun - we rented golf carts and drove around the island (it is very small).  There is shopping in Cancun - from your mercados to your high end stores.  Cancun it self is very Americanized in my mind - you can eat Dominos, McDonalds, Hard Rock - it is kind of sad.  There is a waterpark just south of the hotel strip of Cancun - my friends said it was pretty fun (I am going there next time I am in Cancun).  Check with your hotel (if you are staying at a larger resort) - they should have information on different things you can do in the area.  

If you are looking for a great hotel - the one we keep going back to is Moon Palace - it is just south of Cancun and is all-inclusive.  We have always had a very positive experience there!!

Cancun is a party town.

If you are young and you drink and love a warm sandy beach with the bluest water on the planet, then Cancun is the place for you.

Cancun does not represent the rest of Mexico.

In my opinion Cancun is to Mexico what Las Vegas is to America.

Don't tell people you have been to Mexico, tell them you were in Cancun.

Acapulco is rich in history and Oaxaca should be visited as well as Chiapas

The Place Resorts are very nice resorts. They are all-inclusive and in Cancun that is the best way to go. Dinner out can get expensive.

If you want to be active you have come to right place. You can visit the Mayan Ruins (Chichen Itza) in Tulum.



Also Xcaret  is a great place to spend a day. It's  a

You can swim with the dolphins.

You can take a ferry over  to Isla Mujeres, rent a golf cart and tour the island. Stop for a bite to eat and go for a swim on Norte Beach.

Cancun is a place where you can be very busy, clubbing, shopping, site seeing or just taking it easy on the beach.
