  1. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/produc... yamaha's are a good way to go i suggest getting an 85 or 90

  2. Go in to your local motorcycle shop and ASK a salesman. They deal with these every day. They can recommend something and you can see it for real in front of you. Take the boy with you. You do not have to buy anything! Then you can look in the want ads or place ads for a used one. I have many years of riding and have owned about 10 different bikes. I started on a suzuki 90. It was street legal. I bought a yamaha 90 enduro for my nieces and nephew. I took them out in the country and put the bike up on and old plastic milk carton making sure the wheels didn't touch it. This way after lots of DRY runs, I could start the bike up and then they could get the feel of shifting. When I was convinced they knew how to shift and could manage the brake ( me saying STOP at any given time while they were practicing with it running) then I could turn them loose in an open field. All of them did excellent with proper training. I would say start him on something like an 80 or a 90.

    Good Luck!!!!!

  3. I would say an 80cc dirt bike. It would get him used to the clutch, shifting, the throttle, and braking. They are lightweight and not too much to handle. I would recommend the KTM 80 SX. Ride safe!

  4. honda xr100.

  5. schwinn

  6. your same age as me and same height get a RM85 thats what im getting but its a dangerous bike because it has powerband and if he makes one little mistake with the throttle your a going to be dead so maybe look for a 4 stroke so maybe a CRF150R or CRF100

if you don't be stupid on it a just move the throttle a tiny little bit go with a RM85 but you have to take it easy on that bike with those bands

ALAI 2nd answer he is a beginner its will be hard for him to go with the ktm80 sx the powerband and the clutch it will be hard for himg get a rm85 it has smoother powerbands

  7. well im 12 and 5'0 and i weigh 94 and i have a crf 70   it's too small and not powerful enough for me so start out with somethin a little bigger   maybe a klx110 or ttr 110 or crf 80

  8. See if you can find a Motorcycle Safety Foundation dirt bike class in your area.

Take him to a dealer and let him try them on for size. I like Yamaha and Honda but Kawasaki and Suzuki are good also. Buy the largest bike he can sit on and still touch the ground. Even with that he'll probably outgrow it in a year or two so I would buy used bikes until he stops growing. It might be worth buying a new one if there's a younger sibling to hand it down to. My daughters are 5'0 and both ride Yamaha 125s. They had a Yamaha 80 but its only rated for riders up to 88 pounds.
