Boring but good $$$: radiology, anesthesiology, radiation oncology, pathology, dermatology

Cool AND good $$$ but very competitive: Plastics, ortho, ophthalmology, urology

I would have to say a Trauma surgeon .... they deal with some of the most intensive medicine ... gunshot wounds ... car wrecks ... burns .... all kinds of horrible things that require a strong and sharp decision maker!

There are boring parts with every specialty, and exciting parts with each, as well.  It depends on what you like to do.

Many people think that what I do is boring (and it really is NOT a spectator sport), but I love it.  We have times when it is very exciting (like when someone's aorta ruptures, or we get a gunshot wound victim, or the surgeon loses a lot of blood quickly....), but excitement = stress, and you get to a point where you just don't need that much stress too often.

If you want excitement, try being a surgeon in the military.

Radiologists, and Anesthesiologists!! I know so many of them, and they are all hilarious and so much fun to be around!! And their jobs are really fascinating. As a dermatologist, take my word that skin is really not that exciting.

I would think ER, Trauma Surgeon would be pretty exciting.  But the hours...

The best 9-5 doctor has to be a dermatologist somewhere in the Southwest.
