  1. Ambassadors receive full diplomatic immunity. This means that if an ambassador commits a crime while posted overseas, they cannot be arrested. They cannot even be subpoenaed as a witness. However, they can be issued traffic tickets but it is up to them as to whether they pay them or not, as they cannot be prosecuted for not paying. Basically the police can't touch an ambassador unless under certain conditions.

If an ambassador commits a rime and then the sending country (the country the ambassador represents) decides to withdraw diplomatic immunity, the hosting country may arrest the ambassador as they no longer are immune. If the sending country doesn't remove immunity, the hosting country can expell the diplomat. The sending country can also prosecute ambassadors for crimes committed while posted overseas, whether or not the hosting country wants to persue the matter.

Ambassadors also have the right to carry a specially marked "diplomat bag". This bag cannot be opened or touched by customs while entering the country. This "bag" can range in size, anywhere from a matchbox to an industrial container, as long as it is properly marked.
