Whats The Best Kind Of Wood I Can Use To Get The Full Preformace Out Of A 18'' FI.BTL With These Specs? Dual 2 Ohm,Cooling,HiXm Coil,Induct Heat Ring,And Daily Option. I Plan On Buying Four!!! Also The Recommended Option Is 2000 Rms But Steve Meade Told Me He Gives His 5000 Rms Each He Has Four To. Someone Told Me ''He Knows How To Build Enclosures To Compensate For Overpowering The Woofers Thats Why He Gives Them That Much Power''. If Thats True How Will I Make My Enclosure Inorder To Do That If I Plan On Overpowering The Sub. Is That A Good Thing If I Have A Enclosure Do That Or Just Stick With 2000 Rms Each.

FI.BTL Specs (BTL18)

  1. The most commonly used wood in speaker box enclosures is 24mm MDF.

Its easy to work with, easy to seal and is lightweight yet sturdy.

  2. Best is mdf,You will need to use 24mm thick or more and when you buy your sub it should come with the reccommend box specs ported boxes are best,Hope that helps

  3. that is a high performance sub, and will seriously beatup a box, so it must be made extremely well. for starters at least 3/4" MDF, however i would consider (for that sub) using 7/8" MDF. also i would put stiffeners in it. And never go over the rated RMS..NEVER.... and make sure the enclosure size is exactly what is recomended by the manufacturer, anything different will effect the power handling.

here is a simple video to expain how to make a sub box.
