  1. What ever breed you choose, buy from a breeder and make sure it is still quite young

    I recommend a budgie

(best to buy one between 6-10 weeks old)

they're small, eat less, make less mess and are easy to care for

Both males and females can talk, though males do speak better. to teach them start with something simple like hello. repeat the same word over several times and they shoulds speak quite early. The best time to teach is twighlight (sunrise/sunset)

Males can become aggressive or overly loud during breeding season

    Females can become eggbound

They are an allround great little bird and are quite tough and hardy.

    I have 1 X 9 yr old male

I've had him since he was 8 weeks old

He can talk, he says hello, his name, sings twinkle twinkle little star and many other little phrases. He can also bark

  2. I would recommend either a budgie (commonly referred to as simply parakeets in the US)  or a quaker (monk) parakeet.  Both are relatively small and in the top 5 for talkers.  However keep in mind no bird is guaranteed to learn to talk regardless of species

  3. The best and easiest parakeet to train to talk is a budgerigar ... they are small, they learn to talk fairly easily (you will need to repeat things over and over clearly to it so it can learn it).  The next larger parakeets don't learn to talk very well if at all, and it's basically only the much larger parrots that learn to talk.  Cockatiels are also small but they rarely learn to talk and it takes FOREVER to teach them.

  4. quaker parakeet. their tooo adorable!!!

some talk and some dont so dont get ur hopes up.

  5. maybe one that doesnt like talk.. :] like when ever you saysomething it says the same thing back maybe a trained one and a colorful one. lmao

  6. What ever type you get please do your reading and learn about them They do take a lot of time the larger you get A Quaker is  a great smaller bird BUT they also can become nippy and be cage aggressive if not handled often and worked with

On that subject NO bird will talk without lots of work from you. Birds take Training and time Lots of it They require toys perches proper varied diets pellets seeds veggies fruits and Time and lots of it

Do some google searches and make sure this is a step you wish to take and then find a breeder near by Buying at a pet store will just make you unhappy if you want a friendly bird in most cases.

A rescue is also another option Many unwanted birds in need of homes You will get loads if info and help and in many cases they come with cage and toys etc. for a small fee.

  7. parakeets cant talk.. you'd want to get a parrot or a mcall

  8. a colorful one!
