What Kind of Spiders Are These?? No Pics, just Desciption.?

Alright, the first one I saw was kinda big and it seemed to have tan-ish and a kinda dull brown stripes. It was on it's web on the porch, on a post right by the door, it blended in really well with the wood, I think we may have went weeks with out noticing it. But when I noticed it, it scared the s**t out of me. and my mom killed it. Although half of it is still there, lol.

Anywho, The second one was pretty small about maybe a quarter inch long, and completely black, as far as I know, I didn't pick it up and inspect it, I wrapped it in toilet paper and flushed him/her, but it kinda had short-ish legs and it didn't really have a big "butt"but still, I just want to know what they were, and if they're poisenous..
