  1. Try "Paradise Pool and Billiard" in Corpus Christi,Tx...really a neat set up ...the high ceiling and set up gives it a "Vegas" look to it....20 some odd 8 footers on the right side and 8-  9 footers with very tight pockets on the left side as you walk in...they call this side the "serious side" ...with a billard table and a 12 foot snooker table ..TVs all over the place for all of the games....sorry Johnny, but the AC system takes out the smoke and not as bad a smell when you come out!

  2. There used to be a place on Addison and Narragansett, in Chicago, a long time ago, probably closed around 64,

that was one of the spots for gambling, It was like in the movies!, not fancy, big tables, drop in pockets, that smoke in the air, with a little Cuban cigar mixed in with it.

There was a guy there, or was it the owner, that used to make custom made sticks to fit!.

They were famous worlwide, and when he died, the prices went crazy on them!. they were pretty expensive to begin with.

I can't think of his name!!, but I'll ask one of my buddies.

You guys all know the name I'm sure, but it's not coming to me right now!.

You know what?, it wasn't just the place, it was the time, the people, It all adde to it.

Go to a pool hall now if you're not a banger!. except for the higher class ones, with bouncers!. Not the same thing!

  3. Try Schick's in S'port. The wanscoat is from the original Neiman Marcus. Chandalier from colonial mansion. Antique mirrors and even the lights over the gold crowns are old porcelien (sp). Plenty of space, a game if you want, you never know who will show up and a world class cue maker who happens to enjoy a good wine to boot.

    Luck

  4. This is going to sound like a crazy idea, but how about an organized casino-style pool gambling establishment?  It would be like a casino in that you would buy chips to bet with.  You would have referees at every table holding the stakes and enforcing the rules.  You would have security and cameras up to China.  You could have a board of some type, maybe even a computer to match up players or different sections based on what people want to bet or which game they want to play.  The only problem I'm seeing with this whole set up is how does the casino make money on this?  It would definitely change things to go from games of chance to games of skill.  M.D.-BCA Instructor/Referee.

  6. one when you first walk in, there's that warm feeling, the scent of food being made, the tables are wide spread where you don't have to bump into the other person playing on the opposite table, clean tables, no chalk on them, no lint, chalk pieces, nice fitting pockets, clean balls, (no pun intended, lol)

of course, hardwood floors, unfortunately there's hardly any drop pocket tables around anymore in the halls..no more layer of smoke in most states :(..(here i go on the govt. again)..proper lighting, old framed photos of Paul Newman, Jackie Gleason, Minnesota Fats, pool photos.....wooden bar stools.......just that type of "warm feeling" atmosphere :)...man, now you want me wanting to go out..haha..........Dre O
