Henry VIII, was supposed to go into the clergy and was trained for that position as a child.  His older brother Arthur was supposed to be King, but died at age 16.  Henry became King, and as a response to Luther's 99 theses, wrote, "In defense of the seven sacraments" most likely with the help of Sir Thomas More.
