I'd like to spend 700 to 1000 on a LCD TV- looks like there are 1000's !!! - what the most important thing - contrast ratios or Full HD or Freeview-

I just want a very good TV - good for normal viewing/films and PS3 HD games.

  1. seriously ..go for plasma....with lcd the brightness is dictated by where u sit in the room...like looking at your computer screen from the side and seeing it duller?...there are lots of lcd bargains around cos the future is plasma and they're getting cheaper too ..you can pick up an HD ready 42" with digitv built in and a free stand and 5 yr gurantee from any panasonic shop at a good price

  2. Bare figures such as contrast ratio will tell you absolutely nothing about the picture quality.  Only by actually looking at the screen will you be able to judge.

  3. By previous experience, PHILIPS, is the make to go for. I Started with a 42" and recently moved to a 50". Both perform superbly. An acquaintance has had major problems with SONY and another with PANASONIC..... hope this helps

  4. first of all, i would never buy a plasma tv. they do not last long. lcd is the way to go. i promise you that. and i agree with guy who has the list of tv's not to buy. however, i own a 42" vizio lcd and you can't beat the price or the quality or the ratings either. and keep in mind that you want to pick the right size tv for your "man cave" hope this helps.

  5. Buy an Olevia, you can find them at Target!  I have the 42". I love it!!
