I did not know what would happen next so switched it off. When the power came on I didn`t know what to expect. Are you familiar with these things?

  1. Kaput,dear thing,Kaput!

  2. I have just spent three weeks phoning talk talk, currys and belkin to try and fix this monster I so lovingly refer to as the computer. I have clicked, plugged, pressed, double clicked, unplugged and pressed even more. But to little avail. In the end i uninstalled the wireless router, robbed my son of his 10' ethernet cable, (which is now lying diagonally across the room) and voila I have a semi working computer. The next step is to attempt to hard wire the whole thing and then if it still doesnt work efficiently I will take a large hammer and fix it my own way. lol

  3. Yes, "What Larks", indeed! Just a first of a few things you'll experience in the computer world. Most are enjoyable, however! ('Lest they are to this computer geek!)

This is why they make Uninterruptible power supplies. They have batteries inside, so if the power cuts off, you don't lose any important data.

  4. It'll be fine. Just re-boot but anything your were working on you'll have lost

  5. You should be okay, but make sure you are making restore points through the help menu and get yourself an ups (uninterruptable power supply). For one machine it will run you around $100 U.S. dollars. You could try and get one refurbished they sell them all the time. For my system I have a higher end ups. But not real high end like a company has. You should also be backing everything up, either with an external hard drive or writing to DVD disks. Once you are down, you're down, and that's it. And you will be pissed and frustrated that you can't get the system restored and be angry for days. Everything is peachy when it works but when it goes down that's it. You won't get the data back. You may find some files using a disk sniffer but it will only be a salvage operation.

  6. oh this is awful hope all is ok?if never had this?

  7. your not on a key meter then are you . lol

  8. dont worry...nothings happend

  9. Yes, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr d**n thing freezes or crashes every day. Sunday night the power blinked out twice but I was told the whole town centre was in darkness even the traffic lights from 10 pm until the early hours.
