Question:

What MONTH do home grown tomatoes ripen in Wisconsin?

We have a garden in our back yard and that includes many tomato plants. It's late July now, and we see only a few cherry tomatoes turning red, but the regular size tomatoes are still green.

I'd appreciate good feedback from any "green thumbers" out there!

THANK YOU.

  1. My Parents live in Tomah Wis...and their tomatoes are just now starting to change color...they where put in late because it was just to cold to plant in May my dad said...

    Good luck!!

  2. There are many things that factor into the time of color change and rippening for tomatoes back home in WI. I can say that for the most part your tomatoes on are schedule. They will rippen anywhere from begining of July well into Aug.

The main things that determine timing are :

when they were planted, how much water did they get, how much sun they got, and also the amount of nutrients in the soil or ground.

Hope this has helped give you an idea. I can tell you are waiting to sick your teeth into a nice ripened tomatoe....me too. ;o)

    Here's to healthy veggies.
