  1. Why the heck would you joint the Army then?  You should have joined the Air Force or Navy.

  2. So you'd like a job that is nice and safe while your buddies go and fight?

You'd like a job with all the benefits, but none of the responsibilities that come with serving?

Do the military a favor, don't join with this attitude

  3. If you don't want to deploy than don't join - pretty simple.  We've got enough of your type already ("I just joined for the college money").  Do yourself and us a favor and stay home.

  4. I don 't know what MOS would keep you out of the middle east, but I know of a rank which would.

    PFC   ( Proud F@@@@g  Civilian,)

  5. I guess you feel those who have died for freedom in all wars were losers and did not do any good in their lives, correct?

Those who have died in all wars have bettered our lives today.

I feel sorry for the unit and branch that gets your stellar ***..

  6. You have no business in the Army none.  Its ok to not particularly WANT to go overseas, but you have to be open to it.  Picking your MOS based on going or not going...I got news for you, based on MOS...they ALL go.  Pick a non-combat MOS to BETTER your chances of living.  And  still, if you don't want to serve, DON'T.  The Army can give so much to a persons life, but you got to be willing to give too.  You are asking americans to give you a better life and paycheck, but you want an easy ride.  This is a real spit in the face to true soldiers.

  7. The only way to stay home is to just stay home. Really there is no "safe" MOS. Even if you choose a MOS like say you are a Cook or a Supply Specialist you still can have assignments that have nothing to do with cooking or issuing pencils. Besides soldiers and sailors need to eat no matter where they are stationed, and we all need supplies.

When I was in the Navy I was a Hospital Corpsman...and at one time I was handed a .9mm pistol and put at the front gate. No band aids, no IV bags, nothing medical...I was given a gun and a radio. I stood out there for nearly 12 hours checking ID's. (I did this about twice a month at that duty station)

When I was on my ship, I went to the Mess Hall/Galley and worked in the dinning room. Lucky my Mess duty was short...I was only there about 3 weeks.(It usually last 6 months...but I was also a trained food inspector (Preventive Medicine Tech) and I was very critical that they sent me back to medical. I made sure it was clean. Too clean...but it was my job.)

Anyone can be reassigned at any time. It is just the way it is. Usually you will do your job.

Obviously infantry and engineers will go to Iraq. So will medical personel, mechanics, supply,  and MPs. I was medical and didn't go to Iraq. Since 9/11/01 I was in Puerto Rico, then I went to Guam. My last duty was in Atlanta, GA.   I got out last year. I stayed in ATL. They send you where they need you.

There is no telling where you will go.

  8. With your mindset please do not join my Army, look at the Air Force or Navy.

  9. There's only ONE MOS that will definitely keep you stateside, but you don't qualify for it...

79R - Recruiter...you must be a NCO to qualify and you can't come in the Army as one.

If you lack common sense to know what the h**l to do when faced with last-minute decisions concerning life or death, don't join.  Medical might give you a slight chance, but even so, you'll end up being deployed regardless and Medical is hard to get into because so many want in it.

If you're worried about not wanting to see combat or IEDs, then don't join Combat Arms.  Get a MOS that is Combat Support or Combat Service Support.  The hardly go outside the wire because they spend most of their time supporting those who do go outside the wire.

Deployments are inevitable.  Just be glad that deployments are back to the 12 month rotations instead of the 15 month.  Don't think that if you join the Reserves or National Guard that your chances are slimmer.  A Minnesota National Guard unit spent 22 months in Iraq...the longest deployment of any unit in the military.

So...in any case...slap yourself and let reality kick in because you're bound to deploy.

We need selfless men and women to join the ranks and do what others fail to do...

  10. Yes please don't join..do you assume the rest of us enjoy IEDs?theyre my favorite.yeah ****** right..
