  1. The Bar-B Barn

  2. mount royal

especially if your on the top and look down and see the whole city

  3. Wanda's.

  4. The weather's getting SUPER hot & humid so I would highly recommend checking out the fountains at Place des Arts downtown (there's a metro stop of the same name that takes you right there).

Otherwise there's Mount Royal, the mountain in the middle of the island that has amazing views from a huge stone 'balcony' in front of a chalet at the top (you can see all the way to the Saint Lawrence river).  There are a tons of touristy spots like the Biodome (amazing), Olympic stadium (so-so), and all the museums... but you can find all that yourself online.

I would recommend checking out the Lachine Canal which has a beautiful bike path along it.  The Atwater market (at the bottom of Atwater street in the Saint Henri district) has beautiful produce on stalls, cafes & little places to eat after your bike ride or if you fancy some shopping independently.

If you're here on a Sunday, go to the 'tam tams' which take place in the park on the corner of Mount Royal & Parc ave. where there's a huge war memorial.  Hundreds of people gather around with all their own drums and play together all afternoon, and there are people selling things off carpets (jewelry, temporary tattoos, African  doodads, etc.) - it's a signature Montreal event.

Shop on Saint Laurent, Saint Catherine, Mount Royal, or anywhere you like... and as for restaurants there's an over-abundance to choose from!  There's the old favourites like Scwartz's (sp?) for smoked meat on Saint Laurent, but there are just so many to choose from I'd recommend visiting www.restomontreal.ca and browsing for your favourite cuisines, budget, area etc.

Personally I love ChuChai (vegetarian, unbelievable), Caprice Fondue (fondue, seafood, steaks, pastas - gorgeous food and lovely waitresses), Reubens Deli on Saint Catherine (great atmosphere and the food is so filling and flavourful - ask for Tolis the waiter!).

If you're looking for a quick bite, Basha's & Al Taib serve great middle eastern food like felafel and shish taouk to go with garlic potatoes.

Senzala is a Brazilian place that does OUT OF THIS WORLD brunch food so it's a perfect place if you're in from out of town and you want to get a late breakfast or early lunch while out shopping.

Anyways, hope this helps - have a fantastic time!  Montreal has an unbeatably vibe in the summer... Crescent street has the best terasses in the city ;)

  5. Ooh la la!!  You are in for a great time and I have listed some good places to see below:

    - Atwater market

    - shopping, restaurants, clubs and bars, etc on St Laurent, St Catherine

    - Mount Royal, it has beautiful view the city and you will be out of breath!!  It is gorgeous!  There can be found the Biodome  and some museums, so something to check out while there

    - fountains located in Place des Arts downtown

    - Just for Laughs Festival is in July August so check that out for sure!

Hope you have a great trip!
