  1. See Roy Halladay.

  2. Low ERA

    High IP

    Low WHIP

    At least one-two dominating pitches.

  3. thats not true. Buerhle is the ace of the Sox and he doesnt have a .500 winning record!  he is just a great guy and is the 2nd best leader of the team behind Konerko.  he is the leader of the pitching staff and people respect him.  thats the perfect ace in my mind

  4. Statistically:

He has three times as many wins as he does losses.

He is the number 1 starter on his team

    ERA under 3

7IP or more in most games

    Leader

EDIT: Hey, sometimes a pitcher need to realize his team's capabilities and see that he himself need to step up, do the captain move and try to pitch even better.  Thats what most ppl can't see with pitchers.  Yes, some get an embarrasing amount of run support, but most ppl dont give credit to the REAL pitchers that can realize his position and pitch during the situation.

  5. A pitcher that has the best speed and spin combination.  Oh, ERA and all of that helps

  6. The best pitcher on the team. A true ace usually has a winning record, an ERA of 3 or less and a good strike to ball ratio.
