  1. None because the USA won every battle in nam.

  2. Overwhelmed is THE worst way to describe The Battle of Khe Sahn. When a Force is outnumbered 4 to one and that smaller Force of US Marines and ARVN inflict a casualty rate 500% beyond your own the correct phrase is "kicking butt and taking names".

TET 68 was the last dying gasp of Gen Giap. He got fired for failing. He was amazed that the Press Corps reported he won while his forces were in MASSIVE retreat.

  3. I was in Nam in the late 60's and early 70's. I never heard of any NVA unit completely overwhelming any US LZ, base camp, FSB. Now "Gooks in the wire". Yes. Infiltrators? Yes.  But come the break of day they ran away ( if not dead) and Uncle Sam's boys were still there. I don't know where you got your info from but it's erronous. Some SF A camps were overrun but were reclaimed soon after (Plei Mei) for one. I can tell you personally that Snoul, Cambodia, "The City", "Rock Island East" were overwhelmingly overrun by the US Army in 1970 and many unnamed NVA base camps were overwhelmingly overrun by the Marines and Army both throughout the war. Study the wars history before asking questions like this....please.

  4. The Battalion you speak of is the 1st Battalion of the 9th Marine Regiment..

better known as1/9 the "Walking Dead"...

    Almost a 98% casualty rate KIA/WIA...

It was during the Hill fights on Hill 881 and not in the DMZ...

PS...The NVA never took the Hill...
