  1. yes dinos, drangons and gargoyles

  2. Most mythological creatures tend to have at least some level of truth to them. However, a lot of it is based in maintaining control and power, as well.

Modern unicorns were invented when Vikings discovered the Narwal (which means "toothed whale" and which has a spiraling tusk on it that looks similar to a unicorn's horn). Before then, unicorns were considered either single-horned goats or rhino's (depending on the context). The Vikings used to sell the horns when they got back to port, since there were many people who wanted to make magic spells with them (based on myths started about their magical properties).

Werewolves were feared throughout most of Europe... but in Russia, a shaman was considered weak unless he could turn into one. Additionally, most vampires were said to be able to turn into a werewolf, as well. White Wolf Games ignored that little bit of folklore so they could sell more books.

For all my money, I'd like to say fairies and elves are by far the most likely, mostly because most people don't know what a "fairy ring" actually is... they appeared in meadows and forests until about the 12th century... when everyone started mowing the grass. And now we have crop circles, which seem to me to be a better match to the oldest folklore than a faint ring of mushrooms or other things that just appear..

  3. Chewpacabra, bigfoot, aliens.... and maybe the exmoor beast.

  4. Santa Claus, but not the immortal jolly fat man that we have all grown to love over the years. You see Santa does have a fathom of truth to it. St. Nicholas id believed to be the first Santa Claus. He was well know for giving gifts due to the fact that his Parents died when he was a teen and left him pretty well off. He even left three sisters a dowry so that they would not have to become protitutes. So I believe that Santa is on Mythological creature that has a certain amount of truth to it.

  5. Elves. tee-hee:) and hobbits:) haha. Okay to be serious.. ummm the elves

  6. Piratically every mythological creature know  to mankind was based off of something real. For example, the minotaur. During the time period the Greeks bestiality, s*x with animals was a very common practice. It is more than possible that a woman did become impregnated by a bull, or a cow impregnated by a man. Via these intercourse something close to the Minotaur may have been born and survived for awhile. The Centaur is the same thing, actually more common day religions have said that Centaurs were born from a love potion or spring were as the first thing the man saw was his horse instantally falling in love and vice versa.......

  7. dragons.  almost every civilization came up with the idea of dragons independently, before they had contact with other peoples.  and i don't believe the c**p that the myth was inspired by dinosaur bones...the outer characteristics of dragons are too similar across the world to be inspired by just skeletons - which they probably thought were giant human bones anyways.  plus the whole flying thing when the skeletons didn't have wing structures.

  8. i believe they used to exists.

  11. The Bogey man, or Big foot, actually gigantopithecus- a ten foot tall, upright ape that is thought to have died out about 300,000 years ago. Thunder birds-super sized birds, thought to have died out 25 million years ago. Chupacabras have pretty much been proven to be coyote's with a sever case of mange.
