What NFL team should I root for?

Ok, lets set this up. Most of my friends are major sports fans, as am I. However, I never REALLY got into football. I casually watch it, but that's about it -- I play madden, I can tell you the guys on the team and follow it, I just don't live for it.

I am just starting to re-watch football. I watched as a young kid through the 90's, rooting for the Dolphins as I was a big Dan Marino fan. I see the team now and I don't know the players and I really have nothing invested in them.

Who should I root for?

- I am very much into tradition of teams.

- I HATE obnoxious fans (i can't emphasize this enough)

- I want to be able to buy a jersey of a player and say "ok he'll be here for a few years).

My biggest problem is loathing fans. I live in NJ and I HATE Jets and Giants fans.

Traditional, OK   Then It's The Saints, They traditionally lose.

Fans. They have the most loyal fans. They tradionally lose and still have fans, sometimes they wear bags, BUT

Jersey, Reggie Bush, He will be stuck their for a long time.

I picked the Bengals as my team a few years ago because Alabama doesnt have a team.

All the other choices are fine. Both San Diego, and Jacksonville should have good years so, if you want to root for a winning team, those are good picks. I, however am suggesting you root for The Denver Broncos. First, they NEED the support. It may be a tough year. Secondly, as far as a player to buy a jersey of, why not Jay Cutler. He is showing a lot of promise and, barring injury, should be in a Broncos uniform for a long time.

P.S. You know, with Favre in the Big Apple, I would think you might have a soft spot in your heart for a legend. Maybe root for The Jets for Favre.

Go 4 the packers. they probably have the most tradition out of any NFL team. The Lambeau Leap, Lombardi, they won the first couple of superbowls, they have tons of hall of famers, they have the youngest team in the NFL so there players will be there for a while. i'd go for an AJ Hawk Jersey.

Wow, what a question mate. I think most will try to recruit you into their teams and I'm no different. So I think you belong to the Steel nation, Pittsburg Steelers. There's a lot in the team or club if I may, and their most notable traditions are the all era dominant defence, terrible towel and winning culture. The other good traditions are being one of the few teams who believe in drafting to build a team and not many teams can boast having had only three head coaches in the past 40 years. We the steel nation know were we stand, we are one of the best franchises of all time and we pride ourselves in that. A small time franchise, yet we play with the big boys year in year out. As for player turn over, we keep our best players. Look in the recent past, Hines, Willie, Big Ben, Cassie, Troy have contracts and we still have Santonio, Rashard and many more who's jersey you could buy and sleep in for many years to come. And by the way, I'm from South Africa, when I was introduced to the sport, I also didn't have a team to root for and like you I also searched wide and far for a team to root for. It didn't take me long to like the Steelers, at the time we just transitioned from Noll to Cowher, we had Woodson, Gildon, Bam then the Bus and the team in gold and black is always a contender.
