What NHL team pays the most for their staff?

I have always wondered if paying for a great staff (i.e. coaches, trainers, scouts, etc.) correlates directly to great teams. Almost everytime that I hear about the Red Wings staff it is always to the effect of how great their scouts are overseas. If you could site a website or two that tracks staff salaries, that would be very much appreciated.

  1. My guess is the Wings. Holland, Devellano, Bowman, Nill, Yzerman, Babcock, McLellan.... and many more top brass that I am forgetting.

Add in Jiri Fisher's salary since he cant play and has been moved to a front office job. And, thats omitting probably the most extensive scouting team in the league.

  2. I am not sure who it is, but find the team that has fired it's head coach, or head coaches, and their coaching staff(s) the most in recent years, wherein the team is still paying them to not coach (due to contract obligations regardless of the firings).

True that good teams usually have a good management / coaching staff that they believe in and, thus, pay them well in order to retain them... but I think the most money will be being spent by the teams with money (i.e. the Leafs) who have screwed up their management of the team and are still paying for fired managers and coaches.

I do not know of a website that has this information.  Team's often do not publish this information because it is not salary cap relevant, or player contract relevant.

  3. my guess would be the sharks or the wings cuz they have everything top of the line
